La Bastida team restored the original floors of some areas of the site to adapt them for visitors, after completing the tasks needed to drain rainwater off these spaces.

In the first excavations performed in La Bastida in 1869, Rogelio Ichaurrandieta already noticed the existence of a big enclosure marked off by a “dike”. No one ever paid attention to this new as there is nothing similar in any other argaric settlement. However, the recent research seems to confirm the observations made by this well-known civil engineer.

La Bastida opens its doors to the public on Thursdays to disseminate the archaeological heritage through the initiative “The Living Museum”. From now on, groups of visitors will be able to enjoy a tour around the archaeological site and its laboratories storing the findings recovered for the time being.

Last October, La Bastida Project was presented officially in Murcia city. This involves the fieldwork and construction of a center for the research and dissemination of heritage.

During the summer excavation campaign of 2009, it was discovered a double burial with two men, which is an unknown circumstance in the argaric world hitherto. This fact opens new questions about kinship in the argaric society.
