The conservation and restoration of structures and objects immediately after its discovery ensures, in first place, the safe extraction of the same. This implicates a job in a narrow collaboration between restorers and archaeologists. The conservation main objectives are to stop the degradation of the remains; to achieve its optimal stability through appropriate environmental conditions and to exhibit them in their original state. In the final stage, it is noteworthy that all treatments around the remains take place according to minimal intervention guidelines, avoiding as far as possible the application of chemical treatments on the archaeological material.
The restoration of the archaeological objects is essential to facilitate the functional analysis in good conditions. This procedure favors the conservation of the original work surfaces, allowing a direct observation. Thanks to this preparatory work, we expect to analyze in detail the manufacture, use and maintenance of the objects.
